Dust Mites

1.What are Dust Mites (DMs)?
DMs are microscopic organisms that feed on
dead skin. They are particularly attracted to
locations where humans are. Humans shed
an entire layer of skin every 25-45 days.
Pet dander not only helps to cause asthma attacks, it is also a major part of the diet for DMs.

And as we all know, when something eats, it needs to get rid of it waste [excrete] and where do you think they do it? That’s right, in your mattress, dust mites drop up to about 20 pelits a day in your matress, which dosen't sound like much, but consider that there are millions of them in your matress. How are you feeling now? Ready to take action?

DMs don’t carry disease, however they are one of the major irritants to Asthmatics
and other people who are allergic to the faeces and the exoskeleton of the dead DM.

2.Where do they live?
Humans spend about 1/3rd of their lives in bed and that is exactly where you would find majority of dust mites in the home.
Dust mites also live in sofas, chairs, stuffed animals, basically anything and everything that is thick, warm and can contain moisture [
lounging areas].

a.How they get there
Microscopic means that DMs are extremely small and cannot be seen with the naked eye, this said they get into your home via many means, they come in via open windows or door [travelling on the air], the dust particles seen flying around homes are made up of several things including dust mites, fungal spores, dust mmite fecal matter, etc.
